Prediction: 2006 is the year Office moves to the web

by Chris Kohlhardt

The cool thing is that this isn’t coming from me, who would obviously benefit from such a move, but from a recent San Jose Mercury News article that attempts to make some bold predictions for 2006.

The office moves to the Web. Documents, e-mail and spreadsheets move off your desktop computer to the Web.

heh I think to be accurate, 2006 is the year Office is *acknowledged* for moving to the web – I suspect it already moved to the web for the rest of us back in 2005 :)

By capitalizing “Office”, I thought you meant Microsoft Office. You just mean our offices are moving to the Web. Well, that’s been obvious for many of us. But some are still catching up. Who doesn’t have Internet access these days? But collaboration is a whole other step and the faster we go there, the better for me.
