Copying Elements from One Diagram to Another (Confluence and JIRA Plugins)

by Debi Kohlhardt

A recent user suggested this tip to be placed in a more prominent place. As we like to do with user requests, here you go!

To copy and paste between Gliffy Diagrams in your Confluence pages or JIRA issues:

* This presumes you have both a Gliffy Diagram you wish you copy content from and a diagram (can be blank) you wish to paste content to (destination diagram)
If you do not have the destination diagram created yet, please do that before beginning the steps.
1 – Edit the document you wish to copy content from
Step 1
2 – Select the items to copy, then Click Edit–>Copy or Edit–>Select All to copy the content
edit
3 – Select the ‘Open’ option in the File menu to open the document you wish to paste into
File Open
4 – Click Edit–>Paste to paste the content into the destination document
**Note: This will only work in the same browser tab. It will not work across browser tabs or browser windows.**

Many teams use this to implement Templates for colleagues.

Happy Replicating!

There is no file > open button in gliffy confluence plugin

    Hi Thol,
Once in the Gliffy editor, you can click File–>open, you’ll browse by space names to find the page and diagram.
If you have questions about finding this section in your Gliffy instance, please email us at support@gliffy.com

If you don’t see the ‘File’ menu, you may be seeing a bug, or some other configuration error with your Confluence installation. For example, you might have a Confluence theme that is somehow hiding the File menu on the top of the screen. Please contact our support team (support@gliffy.com) so that we can work with you to diagnose this issue.

  4. Couldnt Copy says:

In version 3, the file open option has been removed. There is no option to copy elements between diagrams now. If you wish, you can create the new diagram as a template of the existing diagram upon creation.

Hi, When I select open – the new diagram I created to paste the copy into does not appear, yet all the other diagrams in confluence appear.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks
    Lucy

  6. clint says:

    Hi Lucy,
Sometimes it takes a few moments for the indexer on your servers to register the new diagram. Try closing and reopening the document manager.
If you have any further issues, please send an email to support@gliffy.com.

    Thanks,
    Clint
