How Do I...?
Technical Troubleshooting
What is the Gliffy Plugin for JIRA?
The Gliffy Plugin for JIRA enables you to create and edit diagrams from within the popular bug and issue tracking tool, JIRA. The Gliffy Plugin is tightly integrated with JIRA so you can use the powerful diagramming capabilities of Gliffy seamlessly through your issue tracker.
Which version of JIRA is required?
At this time, you'll need JIRA 3.7 or better to run the Gliffy Plugin for JIRA. Usually you can see the version of JIRA you are running by looking at the bottom of any page in your JIRA installation. Get the latest version of JIRA.
Where is my data stored?
New diagrams are added as attachments to issues. This means that all of your data is stored in the same manner as any other content in JIRA. If you have backup procedures and network security setup for JIRA, all of these configurations will automatically apply to any Gliffy diagrams you create.
How hard is it to install the Gliffy Plugin for JIRA?
Installing the Gliffy Plugin for JIRA is quite easy. Simply download and install the Plugin following the instructions located here.
How much does it cost?
View the licensing options.
Do I get updates as you make improvements?
When you purchase a license, you are entitled to one year of product updates and support. After the first year, you may purchase an additional year of support and updates for 50% of the original purchase price.
When does my software maintenance start?
Our policy is consistent with Atlassian's.
What kind of support do you offer?
With standard support, we respond to email questions within one business day, Monday through Friday, 9am-5pm CST. Users can also reference How Do I's, Tips, Forums, Gliffy FAQs, and Gliffy Plugin for JIRA Troubleshooting FAQs anytime.
Which versions of JIRA do you actively support?
New releases of The Gliffy JIRA Plugin will work with major JIRA
versions that have been released in previous 2 years. For example, JIRA 3.13 was released on
September 8th 2008, so new versions of the Gliffy JIRA Plugin released before September 8th, 2010 will work with
JIRA 3.13, 3.13.1, 3.13.2, 3.13.3, 3.13.4, and 3.13.5. Versions of The Gliffy JIRA Plugin released after September
8th, 2010 will likely require a newer version of JIRA.
Which versions of Java do you support?
We'll support the Java versions that Atlassian is supporting for JIRA, as long as the JIRA version fits
into our support timeline. For example, since JIRA 4.2 will be the last version of JIRA to support Java 1.5, that
will be that last version of JIRA that we'll support with JDK 1.5. This policy enables us to leverage the most up to date features in Java while still supporting versions of Java that are in popular use.
Can I try the Plugin before I buy it?
Yes. When you download and install the Plugin, a 45-day free trial is automatically initiated.
What happens when the free trial ends?
You will still be able to edit and view any diagrams that have already been created. However, you may not create additional diagrams without purchasing a license.
Where do I enter the Gliffy license information?
You must have Administrator access to JIRA to enter license information. You will find the Gliffy License page by first browsing to the Administration section in JIRA. Under the System section, you will find a link to "Gliffy Plugin for JIRA License". Clicking this link will bring you to the license page where you can enter the license information.
Our legal team wants to make revisions to your EULA. Can you accomidate our changes?
Our policy on this matches the policy that Atlassian has on this topic. Because of the low
prices we offer our product at, we're unable to make changes to our EULA. Because of our very low prices, the
legal and management costs related to accomidating multiple EULA agreements is not possible. By having a single
EULA that is fair to both sdes, we are able to keep our costs down.
If you have specific concerns about our EULA, we would love to get your feedback.
We would like to use Gliffy for our Open Source Project. How do I get a license?
Gliffy proudly supports the open source community and offers a free license for qualified Open Source Projects.
How does Gliffy's Pricing Compare to Traditional Software?
Compare For Yourself Gliffy delivers cost-effective diagramming to your entire team. Gliffy Plugin for JIRA licenses are good for one year. After one year, you can renew your license at a discounted rate. Our licenses are significantly more cost effective than other leading diagramming applications.

I've installed the Gliffy Plugin for JIRA successfully, yet I don't see any "Add Gliffy Diagram.." links in the issue interface.
First, make sure attachments are turned on globally in the system. You can verify this by going the the Administration section in JIRA, and clicking on the Attachments link on the left side under Global Settings. "Allow Attachments" should be ON and the "Attachment Path" should be set to some path on your server.
Second, make sure the user that is viewing the issue has permissions to create attachments.
I am running JIRA on Linux on Resin 3.0.+ with JAVA 1.4.2, and the Gliffy Plugin does not work when I try to save a diagram.
This is a known issue and we are working to resolve it. You can track the status of this issue here: http://jira.gliffy.com/browse/GLIFFY-1128
