Has your organization been waiting on migrating to Atlassian Cloud until an option for stricter security controls becomes available? If so, it’s time to start preparing your migration plan.
In 2026, Atlassian will launch a new Isolated Cloud offering, unblocking migration for hundreds of Data Center customers who have strict data requirements.
Here’s everything you need to know about what Atlassian is building and, for Gliffy customers, how we’re preparing for the new offering.
What Is Isolated Cloud?
Atlassian’s Isolated Cloud is a brand-new deployment option for customers with the highest requirements for data control. This cohort of customers typically includes organizations working within highly regulated industries, like finance, and organizations running critical infrastructure.
Isolated Cloud products will be available alongside Atlassian’s Commercial Cloud, which uses multi-tenant architecture, and Government Cloud, which is FedRAMP Moderate certified.
Isolated Cloud adds these security measures compared to the existing Commercial Cloud:
Single-Tenant Architecture
Each customer gets their own dedicated instance of Atlassian Cloud products (Jira, Confluence, and so on), which is physically and logically separated from other customers’ instances.
Customer-Specific Hosting
Each customer’s dedicated instance of Cloud products is deployed in a region of the customer’s choosing. Many organizations require this in order to meet strict data residency and sovereignty requirements.
Stricter Access Controls
Isolated Cloud offers support for hardened security postures, including restricted support access, custom encryption controls, and network isolation.
Back to topWhy Is Atlassian Investing in Isolated Cloud?
Atlassian has made it clear in recent years that they are a Cloud-first company, and their greatest innovations are being built on the Cloud.
Meanwhile, as Atlassian makes strides in Cloud, many of their enterprise customers remain on Data Center. The primary reason for that delay? They can't move to the commercial Cloud due to organizational, industry, or legal security requirements.
The new single-tenant option offered in Isolated Cloud will allow these customers to enjoy everything Cloud has to offer without compromising their standards for data privacy and security.

Access to Atlassian’s Latest Innovations
Some of Atlassian’s recent investments in Cloud include Atlassian Intelligence and Rovo, which improve the flow of work and information across Atlassian products and other integrated products. With Isolated Cloud, even the organizations with the strictest data requirements can take advantage of Atlassian’s newest additions.
Reduced Maintenance & Infrastructure Costs
Moving to the cloud helps enterprise organizations reduce maintenance and infrastructure costs by eliminating the need for on-premises hardware and associated expenses. Cloud providers handle hardware upgrades, software updates, and security patches, reducing the burden on in-house IT teams and lowering maintenance costs.
The pay-as-you-go model ensures enterprises only pay for the resources they use, avoiding over-provisioning and underutilization. Additionally, cloud providers’ energy-efficient data centers and shared infrastructure reduce energy costs and eliminate the need for enterprises to invest in expensive cooling and power systems.
Improved Collaboration Experience
As an advocate for remote work, Atlassian has developed a suite of products that help teams collaborate effectively from anywhere—but many of the features that facilitate that level of collaboration, like real-time editing, are only available in Cloud.
Back to topDiagramming in the Isolated Cloud
In your current Confluence or Jira instance, you probably have at least a few Atlassian Marketplace apps that help you expand the functionality of those tools. When you move to Isolated Cloud, you’ll also want apps that operate entirely within that environment.
Identifying apps that meet that standard is simple: they will receive the “Runs on Atlassian” badge on their Marketplace listing.
At Gliffy, supporting Enterprise customers in the Atlassian Ecosystem has always been a priority. We've demonstrated our commitment to enterprise security with our SOC2 compliance and Cloud Fortified status, and now we’re working hard to ensure that even those with the strictest data requirements can continue to enjoy their diagramming tool of choice following a successful migration.
We’ll offer a Runs on Atlassian app later this year, and Data Center customers will be able to easily migrate to this app as part of their overall migration.
The experience in Gliffy will be very familiar to our customers moving from Data Center to the new app—it will have the same intuitive drag-and-drop interface and technical diagramming capabilities, just operating entirely within Atlassian’s Isolated Cloud environment.
